Espin is an electric bike startup focused on simplicity, efficiency, and sustainability.
Josh and Yina, the co-founders of Espin, come from a family of entrepreneurs who value creating products and services that create a positive impact in the world. After traveling extensively throughout Europe and Asia, they were inspired by the countries’ transportation frameworks, which led to the creation of Espin.
When they moved to San Francisco, they had every best intention that traditional bikes would be our commute. The city’s (in)famous hills had other intentions. Every climb… made it easier to take the bus. Every incline… it seemed simpler to call Uber. But that cost adds up, both in dollars — and in terms of the way they wanted to live.
An electric bike would make short order of steep hills. But the steep starting price was at least $5K. With their experience and connections in China and Taiwan, they knew they could do better. So they built their own. They made it modern, they focused on quality. It was affordable. And it was a joy to ride. When family and friends wanted in on all that… they built a few more.
But what started as a business… became something richer. Riding again felt good. Riding electric felt exhilarating!
Friggin Fabulous! TR MN
Love our 21 Nesta ebikes. Smooth quick acceleration. Stops smoothly with hydrolic brakes. Rode about 100 miles so far. Solid frame. Solid performance. Fun to ride! Took 3 months to get. Well worth the price. Bought the premium for my wife and I.
The assembly is somewhat easy for those of us who are not mechanically gifted. There are some details of the assembly that would be helpful so mistakes aren’t made like I did.
The brake light still is inoperable and I don’t know why. I even took my Nesta to get it repaired and the repairman could not get it to work either. This is minor compared to other issues like it not shifting due to not installing the spacers for the front rack on the premium model.
Other than that we are happy with our purchase of the Nesta’s. We are pleased with the step thru feature. The power is exceptional. These bikes are head turners.
Purchased two new Espin Nesta Electric Bikes. I visualized they would be smaller than they were, but was happy to see the actual size. Assembly was easy and straightforward. Not sure how practical it will be to fold them in half for storage/transport, but I most likely will only fold the handlebars down if we end up taking them on a trip. Speed is great, and don’t feel I would really want to go much faster than the top end anyways. Distance on a fully charged battery was adequate, considering I used the thumb throttle for most of the time just to see the range. Having the headlight and brake light is helpful for night rides. I feel at certain speeds, the bike feels bouncy, almost like a harmonic where the entire bike just rises and falls as if a tire is out of alignment. Brakes and gears seem smooth. Overall, I really enjoy riding this bike and zooming around town.
I have 5 acres of land with berry bushes spread all over. I need a fat tire bike for comfort because the land can be rough. If I forget a item that I need, it can be a very long walk in very hot weather. The Nesta neutralizes all my problems. It has more than enough power. I actually had to lower the level 1 assist from 40% power to 20% power to allow me to cruise around at 6 mph.
I have miles of paved bike paths just across the street, so I can also go to any number of stores to pick up whatever I need. The low step through height makes getting on and off much easier and of course I can fold it up and go wherever I want. I love it, perfect for me.
